COUNTDOWN FOR JOHANNESBURG

German Politics towards the World Summit

Conference in Berlin, Germany
Mai 31 - June 1, 2002

Umweltforum Berlin
Organised by the Forum fuer Umwelt und Entwicklung and the Heinrich Boell Foundation in Germany

Mai/June 2002: Where is our stand, now ten year after Rio? Were does Germany stand? How can we provide sustainble livelihoods for all humans on Earth while staying within the limits of the ecological capacity of our planet? What are the challenges for Germany towards sustainable development and what should Germany's role be in the run up and during the summit?

At the conference "Countdown for Johannesburg", key actors from the German government, international civil society and representatives from the South seeked answers from their different perspectives on the challenges for German politics on sustainable development, the World Summit and beyond -- for a future for all people on our planet.
