LAST EXIT BALI?
HOW TO PUT THE JOHANNESBURG PROCESS BACK ON TRACK
Workshop
Thursday, April 25
4pm - 6pm
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace
Root Room, 1779 Massachusetts Avenue, Washington DC
Two weeks after the third WSSD-PrepComm
in New York with all its difficulties, the preparations for the fourth
PrepComm in Bali are underway. The deadlock of New York and the risk
of running the Johannesburg Summit against the wall can only be prevented
by re-focusing on the initial goals of the Rio-Process, and by a strong
effort of civil society to push governments back on the right track to
Johannesburg.
NGO representatives from Africa, the Middle East, South America, and
the United States evaluate the results of the third
WSSD PrepComm, lay out the key aspects and crucially needed actions
for Bali, and wish to discuss with all participants what can be done in
the short time before Bali in order to save the World Summit for Sustainable
Development.
Please join us in a fruitful discussion and strategy session on the road
to Bali.
If you would like to participate, please contact Marc Berthold (see right
margin for details).
