WOMEN'S ACTION AGENDA
FOR A PEACEFUL AND HEALTHY PLANET 2015
THE CONSULTATION PROCESS
WAA2015 Consultation is facilitated by a Working Group (see below) of
women advocates with experience of UN procedures and involvement in the
WSSD process. These women are also familiar with the activities of women's
networks from around the world.
The consultation methodology and completion of the document is designed
to take place in five phases relying on three complementary mechanisms:
-
First phase: identification of WAA2015 topics by working group
in consultation with networks and partners. Elaboration of a preliminary
draft of each one of respective topics based on texts and documents
produced by the Women's Caucus at the Commission for Sustainable Development,
the Seminar Gender Perspective on Earth Summit 2002 (Berlin, January
2001) and the platform of action of UN Conferences as well as other
important related documents. (June - October 2001)
-
Second phase: broad consultation process . (a)
Has been carried electronically by consulting networks which have
expertise in each of the topics; (b) in the international meetings
of the preparatory process for Earth Summit 2002 (see calendar attached)
, WEDO, REDEH and partnering organizations will convene the Women's
Caucus, a space for women from all regions to plan and coordinate
their lobbying efforts; (c) In specific consultation meetings that
WEDO and partner organizations have been organized in order to get
direct input of women into the topics of WAA2015. (September - November
2001). This report highlights the results of these consultation meetings,
that were carried in the several regions of the world
-
Third phase: Compilation of comments and suggestions resulting
from phase 2. Draft of WAA2015 and further consultation to networks.
The Working Group will draft a second draft of WAA2015. This will
be presented at PrepComm II, New York and PrepComm III and circulated
electronically for further comments.
-
Fourth phase: Final draft of WAA2015 and endorsement process.
Based on the comments made in the previous phase, the Working Group
will draft the second version of WAA2015. This will be pretty much
considered final and will be submitted for endorsement at PrepComm
III, in New York from March 25 to May 2nd and PrepComm IV, on June
7 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
-
Fifth phase: Publication final Version of WAA2015 and submission
to heads of states at the WSSD. Upon endorsement by women's networks
WAA2015 will translated in to Spanish. The two versions (English and
Spanish) will be published and submitted to heads of states and the
large public of NGOs at the World Summit for Sustainable Development
in Johannesburg (June 2015).
To the right, there are for download (in Winword format) the reports
of consultation meetings carried out during the period September - November
2001. The reports have different formats. The texts below have been compiled
for the main suggestions that resulted from them.
