Date: daily August 26 - September 4
Time: 08h00-09h00
Venue: Heinrich Boell Foundation, Southern Africa Office,
43 Tyrwhitt Ave, Rosebank; off Oxford Road opposite the "Zone"

The Böll Breakfast Briefings are a series of nine concentrated
work meetings at breakfast time during the World Summit. Each meeting
will address one of the key issues that will be at stake in Johannesburg.
The series is meant to provide an environment where key stakeholders
from governments, intergovernmental organisations, civil society
and the private sector can meet and discuss their positions in a
quiet and closed surrounding close to the venue of the official
summit. In order to facilitate an efficient and fruitful debate,
the Breakfast Briefings are on invitation only and will not have
more than 15 participants every day. After each meeting a few selected
journalists will join and ask the experts some brief questions and
to do two or three short interviews.
Barbara Unmüßig and Ralph Fuecks, board members of the
Heinrich Boell Foundation, will alternatingly chair the meetings.
The working language will be English. Five of the breakfast meetings,
will have its topics prepared, while the remaining meetings will
be organised spontaneously in Johannesburg, depending on the developments
and tendencies during the negotiation process of the World Summit.
