CHANGING COURSE:
A CONTRIBUTION TO A GLOBAL ENERGY STRATEGY
Presentation at the Boell Forum
Date: Monday, September 2
Time: 11h00-16h00
Venue: Boell Forum at the People's Global Forum +
[ where is it ]
Energy is a central, but often very controversial issue in the negotiations
around the Johannesburg Summit. As a constructive contribution to this
debate, the Heinrich Böll Foundation has commissioned a discussion
paper at the Öko-Institut. Elaborated with collaborators from across
the globe, the paper focuses on key strategies with a potential for consensus
among the most diverse actors: energy efficiency and renewable energies.
After a presentation of the central elements of this paper, this debate
will provide a space for reactions and comments from a wide variety of
players. In a second round, some "Type II Initiatives" on energy
will be presented and challenged on their contribution to the implementation
of a Global Energy Strategy.
