STRENGTHENING THE KENYAN NGO CONSULTATIVE PROCESS
With an emphasis on domesticating Agenda 21 and the Earth Summit process,
and on citizen participation in these processes. A facilitating committee
has been established and a secretariat formed to work on Kenyan NGOs and
CBOs participation at the Earth Summit 2002. The goal is to ensure inclusiveness
at the grassroots levels, and of marginalised groups along gender and
inter-generational balance. The key activities are: creating awareness
on Agenda 21 and the Rio+10, process; evaluating the involvement and impact
of NGOs, CBOs, government and other stakeholders in the implementation
of Agenda 21 in Kenya; strengthening the capacity of NGOs, CBOs and media
to effectively participate at the Summit and beyond; and developing a
common Kenyan civil society recommendation and position to positively
influence decisions at the Summit.

on reviewing Agenda 21 in Kenya. These papers are for download to the
