Workshop
April 18-19, 2002
Lagos, Nigeria

The workshop on Civil Society and the NEPAD (the Conference) was convened by Shelter Rights Initiative (SRI) and the Heinrich Boll Foundation (HBF) at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, on April 18 & 19, 2002. Participation was drawn from non-governmental organisations (including representatives of NGOs from Ghana and the Gambia), organized private sector, professional associations and the media. The Conference was organized to address the key issues associated with Civil Society and the NEPAD.

The aim of the workshop was to include empowering Civil Society in Nigeria for a participatory role in designing, implementing and monitoring the different aspects of NEPAD. It will also give the Civil Society an appraisal of the international feedback and prepare a Nigerian Civil Society position on NEPAD.
