FACILITATING THE PREPARATORY PROCESS FOR THE EARTH SUMMIT IN SUDAN

A committee comprising of representatives from the government, national/international NGOs, research institutions, women and youth groups, and civil society has been established. The committee is reviewing progress since Rio on the Environment and related issues such as Urban decay, private sector, governance, poverty, civil strife and the position of Sudanese women before and after Rio.

In October 2001, the national Sudanese Civil Society Preparatory Conference was held in Khartoum, Sudan (with support from the Heinrich Boell Foundation), in order to review the implementation of Agenda 21 in Sudan. The papers being presented at this conference are for download here.
