FRIDAY SPEAKERS SERIES
WSSD AND THE RIO PROCESS

The speakers series are part of a larger Capacity Building Programme that has been organised by the Heinrich Böll Foundation for a group of selected Southern partners between March and May 2002. The speakers series brought together a wide range of actors from the European Commission, the European Parliament, NGOs, the private sector and EU governments to address a number of key issues on the WSSD agenda.

The format involved two or three invited speakers who spoke for 15 minutes followed by a discussion period with the participants of the Capacity Building Programme, as well as members of the public. Themes included

+ Lobbying in the EU
+ Assessing the External Dimensions of the EU Sustainability Strategy
